So I've dragged my Mum kicking ans yelling right into the 21st century by purchasing her an Android Tablet (A Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to be precise). Currently all the main blurb says that you can only publish to a Samsung printer and these are rare. But with a little ₤ 7.50 utility called PrinterShare by a company called Mobile Dynamix your Android tool can print on other sorts of printers. So I snapped via the checklist of printers sustained by PrinterShare and also there was the HP DeskJet 3000. Fast forward to today and I mosted likely to my Mum's house to do the set up:
So I followed the majority of the directions - the little bit concerning getting rid of the product packaging and suitable the print cartridges, but at the little bit where linking to a PC with a USB cable television was asked for, I went a bit "off-piste" - however this functions ... Press the WPS wireless pairing switch on the Wireless router sent by PlusNet and press the cordless pairing switch on this printer.
Wait a couple of secs and then the printer drones right into life and also prints three pages in quick sequence revealing that it has used DHCP and got itself an IP address as well as is marketing itself as a common printer in the workgroup "WORKGROUP" on the network. No requirement at all for a PC or a Mac or a web server! Currently fire up PrinterShare on the Samsung tablet, select print on a network printer by Wi-Fi, one more fast 4MB download of a printer chauffeur (all automated - simply state "OKAY" in the dialogue box) as well as you have wireless complete colour printing from an inexpensive tablet straight to a colour inkjet printer.
Amazing that this just functions right out of package. Extremely thrilled with the print top quality on HP's own "home and workplace" A4 paper. I just know trhat my Mum will be chewing with paper as well as ink at an impressive rate.
